I-65 Update

Just got back from Chicago last night and thought I would share this info....the numerous construction zones on 65 in IN are all gone, especially that nightmare south of Indy. The road is now fully open and smooth as glass with the exception of some lingering construction just south of Indy by Greenwood, there is a lane shift but all are lanes are open.

KY is a different matter....I-65 through Louisville is pretty torn up and there is a major construction project underway down through Shepherdsville and points south. It's also still a mess down through Nashville where it meets I-24.

    Thanks for the update.

Now everyone will drive 95 on 65 north rather than 85 and there will be fatalities every day instead of every 4 days. That stretch of 65 from Indy to Chicago has to be one of the most dangerous highways in the Midwest.

I agree. We have to go through there every year when we visit my wife's family in the Chicago area. Anything under 80 in the slow lane is too slow. We have seen a few horrific accidents in our 28 years of traveling through there. They slow down until past one and then pick it up again.

Give Indiana 1 week and it will all be dug up again! Seems whenever they FINALLY get a road nice and smooth, they dig it up for something within days after completing. Just wait.
If I am not mistaken they just announced a 14 mile widening project. To start next year from Greenwood south, but will do some patch repairs in the next few weeks.

I came through there in October. 6-7 miles of crawling traffic.
