There are trucks everywhere on the roads just look at the rest stops and truck stops they are full. Taking back byways is good but you will still find trucks, not as many. One thing I know about is that truckers who are overloaded will take these routes to avoid the scales.
There is some construction on I80 in both directions but I did not see any delays.
