2 Good places to stop for the night is the Amish Villages and the best one IMHO is the Iowa State Fairgrounds CG.

Just make sure the state fair is NOT going on. CG sits on a hill with a spectacular view of the gold capped capitol building. Not to mention the low nightly rate. I stopped for just the night and ended up spending a whole week there! :C

Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Mahoney State Park just west of there, Stuhr Museum in Grand Island, Archway in Kearney, Buffalo Bill's Scouts Rest Ranch in North Platte, Cabela's in Omaha, Kearney, and Sidney.

BORING!...and the corn doesn't help the drive.

Kearney has the Arch which might break up the trip some. Otherwise, make sure you have a good book on tape to listen to.

I drove it west to east about a month ago. Road surface was good. Due to the cold weather and late spring, I didn't get to see any early corn shoots. Just bare fields. Corn may be up by now. Enjoy.

Drink plenty of coffee to stay awake during that trip on that road so you don't fall asleep at the wheel!
