You can take I 80 to Reno, NV and head north on 395 to 36 to 44 to 89 and then get onto I-5 north across the Oregon border, and then continue on to rt 42 near Roseburg and go West to Coos Bay. You'll run into 101 just a little south of Coos Bay. Just came that way, beautiful drive. a little road construction on rt 42 but doable. Enjoy!
