The transition corridor thru the Chicago area is in horrible condition, pot holes you could bury a wash tub in. That has to be the roughest major highway in America. I shouldn't call it a highway,...

I assumed there were good (or as good as blue roads get) highways south of Chicago that run east-west but I see on the map you have to drop all the way down to US 24 or take secondary roads. I'd still do that but I really try to avoid certain cities, St Louis for one and Chicago for another. But we drive right thru Houston and Atlanta all the time. Those places maintain their highways with the gas tax that they collect for that purpose.
