I-95 changes South of D.C.
today's Washington Post has an insert on changes on I-95 south of DC, EZ Pass information, etc. those contemplating on taking that route after dec 29th might want to check it out on line. bumpy

Its the I95 express lanes, a change and now toll charge to the previously free to use HOV lanes down the center of I95. It also included and extension of the HOV lanes further south. Really means nothing for anyone using the non HOV/TOLL lanes and staying with the free lanes. The only difference is outside of HOV hours when cars used to use this road in the dirction it was open for free, they will now be in the main line with everyone else to avoid paying the fee to use it outside of the HOV restriction hours.
The HOT lanes on 495 in VA are pretty much empty outside of commuting time other then out of town people who found themselves caught in the wrong lane, or people who find the few exists the HOT lanes offer that the main line did not useful. Even during rush hour, its a few HOV people and commuter busses, its goes so unused they have resorted to radio and TV advertisement trying to upsell it to you to use and pay the toll.
