I dislike Labour Day

Not liking Labour Day much. It marks the beginning of the all too soon end of the camping season. We have this weekend, (Canadian) Thanksgiving and maybe two more weekends then a long winter. Darn you Labour Day!
  • I was doing some outdoors waiting today. Just looking around at nature, the clouds and then I saw it! I was in southern Indiana and Mother Nature just reached out grabbed my shirt collar and said look at this. She started sprinkling leaves from the tree tops to the ground. That's when the horrible thought crossed my mind, next thing you know there will be little white flakes doing the same thing.

But then my day brightened with my next thought. At least I don't have to rake those leaves.
  • Being fully7 retired means we can camp anytime we want since my DW retired back in 1999 and I had to due to heart attack back in 1995. No more ice/snow for us as we just bought a house in Ocala,Fl and are moving back soon.
  • Labor day weekend begins the start of our resident season here in FL, at least 'till the snowbirds show up. Summer is too hot and winter is too crowded.
  • I don't like labor day because everything is crowded. There are still plenty of days left to camp with out going to far south.

I'm parked at the family farm building a new fence for my parents and who knows what other projects they have for us. At dusk on Saturday we have a kayak trip planed and a huge family pick nick.
  • And there are those that love it because all the kids are back in school! Fall camping is great in our neck of the woods. :)
  • I hear you BigDaddy. My wife is a school nurse so we pretty much have to get all of our camping in during the summer although I'm going to try to stretch things out until mid-October this year before I winterize and cover the TT :(.
  • When I lived up North in Wisconsin, Labor Day meant the piers came in off all the lakes and boaters dry docked their boats. Yup it meant it's all over but yet for another year after a very very long winter.:(

THAT is why I sold the house and went full time!

Labor Day 'now' means the hot humid dreadful summers of the south will come to an end and beautiful, wonderful, great, did I say wonderful, cooler weather starts. I.E. 70 degrees lower humidity! :W
  • I agree with you - I've got September and most of October left though... then I'll get sad.
  • And here in Southern Arizona, it marks the promise of cooler temperatures coming soon. We've had 43 days in Tucson in excess of 100 degrees so far this year. We're really looking forward to post Labor day cool down!
