I40 around Nashville warning

We were driving west on I40 this afternoon and there was a backup of several miles in the east bound laneson the west side of Nashville. It looked like it was due to some construction but traffic was not moving at all. Also they had overhead signs saying west bound I40 would be closed from 8:00 pm Friday until 8:00 am Monday

    The closure is for 8 weekends to fix bridges on I-40.

    Good detours are SR840 which makes a wide half-circle to the south--great fast road, and SR155 (Briley Parkway) which makes a smaller half-circle to the north. I-440 will also detour you on the south side but is likely to be very congested.
