I5 south through Portland

We had a near miss as we were nearing the end of those interchanges after the river. Suddenly we were in the wrong lane when the road split - very little or late signage. We had to make a quick lane change to stay on 5south which never makes me happy. Did we miss earlier signage?
  • No, you did NOT miss any signs. They give you VERY short notice of the lane change. That's the MAIN reason I never traveled I5 south thru Portland. I traveled up there a lot when DH and I were dating. Avoid going THRU Portland in the future by taking 205 south. Just as busy, but none of the spaghetti freeway******they've put thru Portland. And it may be faster as donn0128 says, BUT the lack of signage, etc. is the PITA.
  • No big deal. I5 through Portland is not that bad unless your in rush hour. It is actually faster than I205 most of the day
  • Possibly missed the advanced signage. Left lane off ramps are not common, and that area is a mess at best.
