I81 to 95
When heading south I use route 17 in Va to get from I81 to 95. 17 is becoming so congested that I'm looking for an alternative route. I don.t mind going a few extra miles but don't want add a lot of miles to the trip.

- The only "congestion" I find on 17 is in the construction area in Fredericksburg, and at times there is a large backup to get onto I-95. If you are not in a RV, just go straight across the bridge over I-95 and take a left into a motel parking lot and do a Uey and catch I-95 south bound from the East. I drive that section a couple of times a month and it has never been so bad that I would drive out of my way to avoid it. they are making some progress on all of the road construction in fredericksburg and that should be better soon.
bumpy - I also like 81 South to 77.. 77 South to Charlotte..485 around Charlotte ( depending on timing and traffic).. back to 77 south.. to Columbia.. onto 26.. to 95..
- How far south are you going? 64 works or 77 to 26. I like 66 to 17, and have taken 17 all the way to FL a few times.
