If you're going to Monument Valley....

We were going to use this road to get to Route 95 then west. While fueling up in Mexican Hat got to talking to one of the local gents and he told me I might want to go around to from route 191, longer drive easier drive. So we decided to drive up 261 and check it out anyway. The sign at the beginning of the south end mountain/mesa climb said "not recommended for vehicles over 10,000 lbs." The driver of a pick up truck, a local guy, coming off the mountain saw me looking at that sign, stopped and told me I "might want to go around to route 191" and pick up rt 95 off that road. So we followed their advise.. 2 out of 2 is good enough for me! Oh, Thought Route 95 through Fry Canyon was just beautiful.
