I do agree about big rigs and trailers keeping off but it is doable and we watched folks do it with trailers going both up and down. It is a UPS route as it is faster and fewer miles.
I happen to think it was a really cool drive but then again I think off pavement desert roads are the most fun you can have with your clothes on. The DW and I did it a couple of years ago in our Grand Vitara but I think a VW bus could do easily in either direction. Oh Yeah! I t was the DW's idea to go down the Dugway.
