We were considering taking the 126 to the 101 but that looks like a lot longer drive time. How much longer would that drive take? I realize a lot depends on traffic.
My preference would be to avoid Hwy 5, just because of the boredom. I'd go through Ventura and Santa Barbara, unless the thought of traffic there is a problem for you.
Drive times could be all over the map, as you suggested, on either route.
