If you think you will need a rest stop around Magic Mountain, then take the 5 and exit Magic Mountain Parkway, with a few nice places to stop for lunch. Then take the 126 around to Ventura. Otherwise, the 118 to the 23 to the 101. Then up the 101. Beulton, Solvang is a great place to exit and take a long rest. Lots of wide open street parking, Ellan's pancake house is total unpretentious but make a great meal, across the street from the windmill of Anderson's Pea Soup. If you need to overnight, Flying Flags RV Resort is a Resort, Wonderful. Then a lovely drive up the coast the rest of the way.
