I'm told that Baja rules are different from mainland Mexico rules.
Going back to an earlier comment, someone brought up the subject of propane. Thank you for the reminder that propane can be hard to find in Mexico. If I'm not heating I can go about two months with my on board tank and an additional three weeks or so with the 30lb tank (most of the consumption is the fridge). So I'd be fine for a good part of my stay and would have time to find a source before I run out. I may even decide to take an additional 20lbs with me rather than leaving the cylinder at my property as I had planned to do.

You will not have a problem using the butane/propane in Mexico. The Mexico butane has a higher freezing temp so can not be used in freezing weather. If they sale it locally, you will be able to use it locally. When you are ready to head North use as much of the butane up as possible before you are in freezing weather so you can refill with propane. Should your tank supply line freeze up, just wait till the outside temps warm and the line will thaw. The only other thing is butane does not burn as hot but you will never notice it but you will use a little more. I would bet Rocky Point has Propane as the temps do drop near freezing occasionally and it is so close to the border. This is not something to worry about.
