Need some advice on this section of Int 40. We usually go from Las Vegas, NV to Phoenix AZ, along Int 10 To Las Cruces, NM Then thru Alamogordo,NM to Santa Rosa NM to connect with Int 40.Is INT 40 from Kingman to Flagstaff actually a 'bad grade' for gas RVs?We appreciate any and all experiences you have had on this section of road.Thank you and Happy Rving.Jane & Lee

But route 66 is much more scenic route if you have the time

No, its not a bad grade, just a horrific rough road. We have done it hundreds of times in Class A, Class C, DP, truck and car. Will beat you up more than a little.Safe travels!

It is hilly from Kingman to Seligman and there is a big grade from Ash Fork to Williams and over the years I have seen many semi trucks sitting on the side of the road on that grade with over heated engines. Going east you will pull the grade, but Flaggstaf is up on top of it so there is no down grade going east. Just make sure your coolant is topped off and in good shape. There is a lot of RV's traveling on I 40 so you won't be alone.

Since it is an interstate highway it will not have any grades steeper that 6% to 7%. I have taken that stretch many times, you'll have no problem.

You won't have any problems with the grade but you will have to dodge the pot holes...

We didn't find the "Grade" so bad , but there were portions
That were like a washboard. 41' MH AND TOAD.

It was the pits last year especially West bound. I don't remember it being as bad East bound

I-40 is in bad shape from Kingman to Flagstaff, both directions. Trucks have beaten the pavement and bed up badly, lots of potholes, lots of expansion/freezing cracks that rattle everything.
