  • My 25 year old married daughter read this article and she sent me a message thanking me and mom for taking our kids on travels when they were young. We traveled about 20,000 miles a year in different parts of Mexico with 3 youngsters. Their ability to understand different cultures and lifestyles is definitely shaped by these travels.

Her comment to me was that she loved the piece and she dreams of coming back home some day to Guanajuato or Mexico City. I thought it was an awesome comment from someone I didn't know would look back on our life with such fond memories.
  • To Tracking and briansue, thank you for helping with the cliky.

I find the article not as much about Mexico but about the children learning different languages and other cultures.

These experiences can be in the American Continent, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, gosh even in Russia or China for that matter.

I was skeptical of the article when I started reading, I thought here we go with another alarmist reporter, I was surprised.

  • Why criticize that article? Travelling with your children is something that helps form their character. This is an RV forum and although very few in this forum have children many of us did bring our kids when we were younger. Anyone who is against this practice probably has never been beyond Kansas!

  • While I do not disagree completely with the article, the writers attempt to sugar coat travelling in a foreign land and disparage a great American City like Pheonix with "gun crime" references is amateur and the Huffington Post is always promoting an agenda that is like a foreign land to me.
