Interstate 22 Memphis to Birmingham
Looking at this route for next October. Is this a new interstate? It didnt look complete at the Birmingham end. Is it completed now or to be completed soon? Good road? Thanks, Ken

You are actually looking to take US 78. It is 4 lane all the way from Memphis to Birmingham. It starts as Lamar Ave in Memphis, but the Birmingham connection can get a little confusing as they have done some construction on that end recently.
I used to drive an 18 wheeler over US 78 years ago when they were first adding the lanes to make it four lane. They bypassed a lot of towns on the Alabama side. Now, unless they have resurfaced it recently, the original section is starting to show its age.
Anyway, it is a fine road overall you shouldn't have any trouble
