- RonWSlExplorerNo problem with using that route - just a little conjested in the Clermont area. Now, if you go further, try to avoid US27/441 North of Leesburg - its very, very congested, heavy traffic.
- BillMFlExplorerWe used to drive 27 back in the old days when it was only two lane in the southern half and was famous for terrible head on crashes. Nice road now. Sugar cane trucks in the fall, orange trucks when they are picking, and a few small towns that slow you down but an easy drive. The "hills" on this road won't even slow you down.

Glad everything turned out good .
Hwy 27 is a four lane slower paced view of old Florida . I prefer it to I75 .
. - Swampman597ExplorerThanks everyone, we'll take that route.
We were coming back from Key West 2 weeks ago and stopped at the Miccosukee truck stop on Alligator Alley for fuel and a short nap. The truck wouldn't start so it was towed to a GMC dealer in Sunrise. After almost 2 weeks and they couldn't tell us when the FICM would arrive so we traded it in and got a 2014 Silverado. Tomorrow (the earliest) the bed rails will be installed and then we should be good to go. Hwy 27 looks like an easier drive but we weren't expecting any of this. Certainly learned where the holes are in our insurance coverages and have started making changes.
We drove up to the Big Cypress RV park on the Seminole reservation and they had an opening but no tow vehicles. I asked the first person I saw with a fifth wheel RV if I could pay them to bring our RV up and he did it immediately but wouldn't take any money.
Fortunately for us, this campground is really nice and the campers here are some of the nicest people we've ever met. - Dog_FolksExplorerPersonally, I prefer it over I-75, unless I am in a rush.
Decent road, four lane and in good shape. Out in the country.
Just be careful when approaching rural intersections, (cross streets), often there is no traffic control other than a stop sign at the street that is crossing. There have been some horrific accidents at these intersections over the years.
Overall would rate it an "easy" pull. - captbruExplorerGood road no problems pulling fifth wheel. You wil encounter some areas of congestion. But you will see the others parts of FL other than interstates or toll roads. I would go for it and enjoy the trip.
- powderman426ExplorerI personally think it's easy. Just be careful of the trucks hauling oranges.
- agesilausExplorer IIIThe roadway is fine. Being in Florida it is mostly flat until you get up around Clewiston where you start hitting some hills. However traffic near the Sebring area can be heavy. Lot's of stop and go. If you aren't in a hurry then it's fine.
An alternative is to take Hwy 41 (Tamiami Trail) from Miami across the glades. You can stop at Shark Valley (Everglades NP), Corkscrew Swamp and the Everglades NP state at the town of Everglades. 41 intersects I-75 around Naples.
