We went with the unit for 30 amps because of the weight factor. We did not hard wire ours in, but have it as a separate unit that we don't necessarily use in the US.
The unit we have weighs about 25 pounds. The 50 amp unit weighs over 50 pounds-a lot to pull out of a bay and move around safely.
