I am going to Mexico this winter. This will be my first long trip in Mex. and there will be a few things to consider before I go back.
As I am from East Canada, it is around 5000 miles to the border and back, then probably another 2500 miles to get to some beach area and back. A lot of fuel, probably over $3000 with the motorhome. Then the insurance for the MH plus the roads, it will be close to $4000, and I am not camping yet, add probably another $2000 I would guest for 4 months.
Going to Florida cost me around $1600 in fuel, the campings are more expensive but no need for extra insurance, no roads to pay. So this leave me with more then $4000 in camping.
I will have to love Mexico to go back, maybe I will, maybe not enough to go back, or maybe I will decide to go for shorter stay, flying to Mexico or to some other country for the same price.
At the end for me, yes I want to travel, but cost is a big part of the decision. Another thing that I cannot ignore is safety while traveling and Mexico is not the safest place as we have security warnings from our governement not to go to some parts of Mexico.
I sure hope I have a nice trip as this is one of my wishlist to travel to Mexico.
