Have anyone else also discovered the very pleasant experience of traveling the quiet back roads of America? I found some I can go for hours at 45 and 50. It so cool..... almost no one else on the road and no rat race interstate. It's wonderful fun time to me.Just wondering if anyone else takes that extra time tossing the clock and calender, or am I the only one?

Traveling the side roads, with or without the RV, is the only way to see America. I avoid the Interstate system whenever possible.

I live right at 200 miles from any freeway in all directions.I like not having to deal with them and the traffic.. Backroads is the only way to travel.

I became a road warrior before the interstates. A road like Route 66 was a great experience. We did not push the old car much past 45-50 mph most of the time.

Yep, even dragging a 41 foot 5er, I'll take the back roads of America any day over interstate travel. We travel interstates only when absolutely necessary. Of course, traveling back roads takes more time. But if traveling, the objective IS NOT speed, it's really about the experience at the moment.Now, I do avoid gravel roads. Been on some doosies over the years though.

About 1800 miles logged this Snowbird season... about 110 miles interstate highway.

I has discovered back roads years ago. Never choose an interstate if another route is available.

I'm surprised we don't meet one another, so many traveling the back roads. We've been coast to coast back road travelers for years. We're ready to head out again after the holidays - Florida to North Dakota this time, via Death Valley first. Nothing like the beauty we find across the USA every season.

I get a little scared sometimes in lonely remote campgrounds when no one else is around, but can't resist the blessed atmosphere, peace and quiet. To sleep so good and realize your making coffee at 10 in the morning. Lol this place is telling me I needed to stop here.
