Travelling in Mexico the expenses are from the most expensive to the cheapest
1. Fuel
2. Tolls
3. RV campgrounds
4. food
Since some of the "RV places are nothing but dirt lots with maybe a house hold contact for electric power and nothing else, the younger generations are still lacking in vacation time to travel far into Mexico they will go to Puerto Penasco, Baja and tend to stay close to home, maybe latter they will travel when they retire.
Some of them want full hook ups, laundry facilities, paved or level pull-trough's and Wi-Fi Etc. so that is hard to find in Mexico the big toy haulers are the thing to have, keeping up with the Joneses.
I have been lucky to have travelled in Mexico for work, in some places we had to go by boat or airplane, on horse or walked in, I have been to places that only the school teacher new a little Spanish and the little kids would come up and touch my arm with one finger, being of Scandinavian decent I was the main attraction of the day, and if I was there for more than a couple of days the town had a "fiesta" in our honor, really nice people.
Maybe the ME generations will grow up and discover Mexico in a different way, time will tell.
