- GreentreenaExplorerWhen in the area we stay at the Icefield visitor center. Spectacular views to say the least. We have rolled into tunnel mountain without reservations but we did not get hook ups.
I sure hope you tow another vehicle as some of the great sights & pull offs are not big RV friendly but very work seeing. - holstein13Explorer

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I've talked this over with my wife and we have decided to reschedule Banff and Lake Louise to next year in mid-September. While I love our 45 foot motorhome, it doesn't fit in every campground and since we've got two girls plus my wife, we tend to use plenty of water, sewage, and electricity so we really want full hookups at least every few days.
Really bad idea to got up there with no reservations especially in a 45Ft motor home
Time to rethink your destination
We will be sure to make reservations well in advance if we decide to go up. - Mandalay_ParrExplorer

Is that Spring Creek RV Campground? I just called them along with Wapiti and they have no sites available. Rundle Mountain doesn't answer their phones.Mandalay Parr wrote:
That would be Canmore.
There is a nice commercial RV park just a little south of Banff.
Can't remember the town name. Seems to me it started with a C.
Yes, you are right. We had good
experience and would go back there again
Jerry Parr - ReneeGExplorerWe went in early September with no reservations and couldn't get in to Tunnel Mountain for hookups. We had a much smaller unit then than we do now, but we could still get into those spots now. Here's a link of our trip and a picture of some of the places we stayed. You could definitely fit in Lake Louise as there were Class A's of the same length there. You'll fit in Tunnel Mountain if you can get a reservation and you can get into Whistlers, as you will see by the site we had. Link to information on our trip.
- FULLTIMEWANABEExplorerYou are coming right as everyone are taking and have booked their One-two weeks August vacation time!
FWIW: We live just south of Calgary and spend an immense amount of time RVing in the Rockies and the Foothills. We tend to boondock rather than organized CG's "where possible". "where possible being the ultimate words here. Check out Kananaski's Country, and Peter Lougheed and some of the other PP's just south of Canmore. Spray Lakes = beautiful area. Bragg Creek, Cochrane a little further East and SE from Banff & Canmore. We also like to Boondoock at the Columbia Icefields (Brewsters) area when heading up through to Jasper. Nothing much available close to Jasper
Check out Emily Fagan's latest blog write ups on www.roadslesstraveled.us She and Mark do a fabulous job reporting.
Just saying FWIW. Here;s a couple of links that might help you also depending how you are set up: Boondocking Alberta & BC = http://esrd.alberta.ca/recreation-public-use/recreation-on-public-land/camping.aspx http://www.sitesandtrailsbc.ca/default.aspx - rr2254545Explorer

If you do not have reservations in Banff or Lake Louise,
I would suggest trying to find something in Canmore.
Last week the road up to Lake Louise had to be closed due to heavy traffic
and no parking. Unfortunately there is very little as far as RV parks
because it is all parkland and not privately owned.
It would be the same if you were heading to Jasper.
This poster is local to that area and his/her advice should be heeded - rr2254545ExplorerReally bad idea to got up there with no reservations especially in a 45Ft motor home
