Don't miss Peyto Lake overlook about 30 miles north of Banff. We first saw it in the late 70's when it was a primitive trail from the road up to it and you stood on the rocks that now hold the platform structure. The glacier and the lake have retreated a lot but still a breathtaking sight. See www.LaurenBarbara.com Wanderings link Canada and Banff area for pix
Pyramid lake and Maligne Lake are our favorites, great for kayaking!! Check out Athabasca Falls which is just outside of Jasper when you are driving from Banff to Jasper. The drive from Banff to Jasper is beautiful by the way! Don't bother with the Columbia Icefield, I went when I was 12 and it was awesome, went last year when when I was 33, they have so many restrictions and only a small area where you are allowed to go, it's kind of disappointing, there is so many other things/places to discover. You have to go to Sulpher mountain and Lake Louise. There is a great Greek restaurant in Banff. And a great Brewhouse/Restaurant and Lounge in Jasper. Have fun, we have been going for three straight years. We love Jasper the most, if you are more the adventurist/outdoor enthusiast, you will fall in love!
