To recover our vehicles after they were stolen and all the paperwork destroyed, (found by the military, federales and state police the next day) we needed to supply the bill of sale or a certified copy of the same. We also had to prove we were in Mexico legally and that the vehicles were also legally in Mexico. Not easy or quick but doable.
