As someone who is just following this thread with some interest, I would ask one question.......
Knowing you need Mexican insurance for crashes, liability, etc, is it possible to purchase only THEFT insurance from your home insurer, be it USA or Canadian? I have no idea what it might cost, but I would think that insurance can be purchased for just about anything these days......
