Jeep theft Document problem, ATTN Canadians.

I'm starting to feel that the weight has descended again. I will be left with only copies, so will visit the Ministerio to see if they will give me some sort of verified copy of their reports and possibly of the police reports. The municipal police were absolutely not involved. RYV

Ouch! We're pretty much in the same boat, but our list was a bit shorter. Not that that seems to be helping any! But it seems that it is not just a Qualitas issue!

This is the list that we got from Qualitas:


"This is the documents that you need deliver in case of total theft if the vehicle wont found in 15 days.

• Original title of the vehicle (properly endorsed)
• Original denounce of ministerio publico (where you acredit be the owner of the vehicle)
• Original certified copy from ministerio publico
• Courtesy stolen report by the state highway patrol where de vehicle es register (original)
• Copy of a recent registration of the vehicle
• Copy of the temporary permit
• All the keys of the vehicle
• Copy of you US insurance

As soon as you have all the documents, you can do the process in any office of qualita´s insurance in mexico.

Our local RCMP detachment said that they absolutely could not investigate a crime that occurred in another jurisdiction even in BC, let alone another country. The best they could possibly do was to enter the vehicle into the National Stolen Vehicle database.
