I use cans for my boat when we are on our houseboat. I hate the metal cans. if you leave them on carpet, they can leave rust stains. They also dont' seem to drain as well (quickly) as the plastic.
Personally, I would look for some of the older ones on Craigslist. The new EPA compliant ones with the built in funnel drains much slower than the old ones with a breather hole. You can modify the new ones with by drilling a hole in them and using a screw.
