Planning a trip to Alaska. My truck has a small tank and big motor about 200 mile range towing. I thought of getting. Couple of jerry cans 5 gallon and mounting them in the bed for truck and generator...

I wouldn't do the alcan on a 200 mile range. Not without a couple of cans.
I've run out of gas(diesel) on the alcan. It sucks. At least 3 of their law enforcement passed right no by, despite me waving. Probably a hundred candians. One lone American from New York stopped and gave me a ride to the gas station (It was only 9 miles away) and back. I had calculated out everything....until a severe headwind changed my gas mileage drastically. Like I said, I ran out 9 miles short.
I've seen gas stations closed down. I've passed other stations specifically because I was planning on a certain one, to find out they closed. I always carry several cans with me. I use them often on the cassiar.
