Just Arrived Home after a Fantastic 7800 Mile Trip
We arrived home Wednesday last week Aug.18. Started west from Seekonk Ma. on June 17 to Carlsbad NM. Worked our way to I81 and rode that and associated interstate highways to Tuscaloosa Al. Then Rt 82 west to Lubbock TX. and finally Rt 62 to Carlsbad. From there we zigged and zagged across New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. Although we only visited a very small part of these wonderful states, we really felt we got the feel of the desert South West (words just don't do the area justice). Seems the monsoon season held off a little this year so the temps were a bit more moderate and not much rain at all. We spent 4 weeks visiting places like Palo Duro Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Sitting Bull Falls, Roswell UFO Festival, Grand Canyon Caverns, Meteor Crater, The VLA, Petrified Forest/Painted Desert, Page, Zion NP, Cedar Breaks, Monument Valley. and more. We even had time to visit family in Las Vegas, Kansas City, and Savanna IL. ALL in all a great relaxing (most of our touring days were 175 to 200 miles) trip, and the RV ran perfectly. So here are the numbers: 60 days on the road, visited 26 states, 7886 total miles, 977 gallons of gas, cost of gas $2813, 8.0 MPG, stayed in 39 different campgrounds, average cost per night $38.00.
I spent a lot of time on this forum the last 7 months asking questions and getting information (no didn't see any rattle snakes) about interesting things to do and see. My wife and I would like to thank the folks here for helping make this trip one of the best we have ever experienced. We are truly blessed to live in such a beatuiful country.
