What is the favored route from Lancaster to Gettysburg? I've heard a few stories about people having some issues with road conditions, clearances, etc., but never seem to remember what route they took...

Highway 30, Lincoln highway is a good route. you won't have any problems. I done it many times in a 35ft towing, Trucks do it headed to I-81.
