- amazingvanstoneExplorerThanks Richard. We are excited to get back to Maz. Haven't been there in 3 years.
- snarleyExplorerWe did San Antonio through Laredo ( Columbia Crossing ) to Mazatlan in late October . First day to Saltillo, second day to Maz. Excellent toll roads the whole way, even a NEW bypass around Torreon. Only bad section was just west of Durango where they were repairing the road but this is probably done by now. Tolls were expensive-2800 Peso for only a motorhome-no toad. Do you need GPS coords to the hotel in Saltillo? - very good description in Churches-especially turn at the chicken place....
- amazingvanstoneExplorerBrian: yes we are going to do the new road. Looking forward to it. Thanks for your help and we look forward to seeing you at 50 Point. Happy new year to you both.
- briansueExplorerHi Larry & Marilyn,
We can't help much as we have not taken that route. We have crossed at Laredo/Columbia Crossing in both directions. We have spent the night before at a Texas Welcome Center about 12 miles north of Laredo on I-35. There is a photo toll road on 255 (Camino Columbia Rd) but we have been on that road several times and never gotten a bill for the toll.
Assuming you are going down the new "Devil's Backbone" 40D from Durango to Mazatlan we have heard of people staying at the WalMart or Sam's Club in Durango before making the trip. We do look forward to driving that new road one of these years. Let us know what you think of it if you go that way.
Our niece in Toronto had twins awhile ago so we may see you at 50 Points again next summer.
