The climb through CO is mostly gentle until around Vail where it was nice to have a turbo diesel at altitude. You will enjoy the trip.
We stayed there many years ago and it was a KOA and again the next year and it was not a KOA and stayed there 3 or 4 years later and the lay out was all different. I don't remember if it was a KOA then or not, but mentioned to the gal behind the counter that we had stayed there 4 years ago and she said ah honey it has changed hands 3 times since then
