You've received excellent routing info. As a full timer who retired out of Temecula, I've got to remind you of commuter traffic once you get down Cajon Pass. There are a number of problem areas, but you definitely want to be in San Diego no later than 4pm. Where 52 merges with 5, I've seen it almost at a standstill during commuter times. Finding Mission Bay RV is tricky the first time. You definitely do not want to do it at night. Also, their sites are not angled, and I remember them all being back-ins. Little tricky in the dark. Were I doing it, I'd stay at Pechanga RV Resort in Temecula and make it a 2 day drive. Negotiating So Cal freeways is more about avoiding traffic congestion than routes and miles.
