Leaving your rig in Mexico short term?

I provided information to the Regional Auto Theft Task Force from the FBI in San Diego when a friend of a neighbour complaind that there where individuals exchangig plates on vehicles at a dark parking lot behind his apartment and a store, that led to the bust of one of biggest auto theft rings in Southern California and Mexico, all this vehicles where being smugled into Tijuana and the VIN numbers altered so that they reflected Mexican manufacturing and they where being driven into the interior of mexico, once south the plates came off and back to Tijuana, a junker's plate was installed on it and sold, the U.S.A. plates where used over and over, vehicles from the US are a great comodity for people that can bearlly aford food.
