Legalities regarding firearms for bear safety in wilderness?

I seem to be having trouble finding information on the need, and possibility of exporting one's own legal Canadian firearm (shotgun) into Yukon/Alaska for protection? We will be there for nearly two...

What driving route(s) do you intend to take, and when will you be there? What kind of riding do you like (dirt roads, technical, vistas, etc.)?
