Not sure about the U.S. - gkenworthExplorerCheck your state laws. It is legal in some provinces. I'm sure someone will post a link. Its been discused here before.
- Golden_HVACExplorerSome states used to allow people to ride in a travel trailer, and many allowed passengers in a fifth wheel, as long as there was a intercom between the passengers and driver. Same thing in a truck camper, as long as the passengers can talk to the driver it was legal.
However now with all the requirements to wear seatbelts, and most RV's not having them in all seating positions, you might not be able to legally ride without a seatbelt.
Good luck!
Fred. - Wishbone51ExplorerI heard it was legal in Oregon, but only in a fifth wheel, and only if there is reliable 2-communication at all times (not cell phone).
I wouldn't do it. - robsouthExplorer III won't even let my dogs ride in the camper much less a person. It might be legal in some places, but it is stupid in all places.

Looks like I was right about OR. - RoyBExplorer IIA side note here - My sister and her hubby have this large family dog and when they started traveling in their Montana fifth wheel their grand idea was to carry their dog inside the fifth wheel. They had brought their dog along on many trips but it always rode in the back seat of their chevy truck. So off they head out and after the first 50 miles or so they pulled into a pit stop and of course went to check on the their dog...
The dog had gone nuts - wide eyed - scared to death. Had threw up in several places inside the fifth wheel etc.
You could not drag the dog inside the fifth wheel when they took him outside of it...
It must have been one terrifying ride for their dog.
To this day they still have a hard time bringing their dog inside their trailer. They had fixed an entrance to the pass through storage area with a door access from the entrance door area of the fifth wheel. The dog had a real nice area to sleep in all - first class.
I have never ridden inside the trailer when on the road but I have heard it is a night mare for sure with everything moving around and all.
just my true story haha...
Roy Ken - 2012ColemanExplorer IICommon sense should be the guiding force here - regardless of legality.
- Joseph_T1ExplorerHere's what you do. You hop into the TT and let your wife drive you around the block a few times. I guarantee after that experience, you wouldn't even consider letting your pet gerbil ride back there.
