A couple of notes about insurance in Mexico....
We have also bought insurance from L&L over the past few years but fortunately have no experience with claims.
I think more is probably in the "stickies" at the top of this forum - be sure to study them.
Something that is often brought up about liability in Mexico - if you have insurance you should get at least one toll free number to call to get an adjuster and/or attorney from somewhere near where you need one. If you DO NOT have liability insurance in Mexico you could be detained by law until the incident is legally decided. If you DO have the proper insurance chances are you WILL NOT be detained. Proper insurance will provide legal representation.
We have Progressive insurance in the US on both our motorhome and our tow vehicle. Progressive tells us their Comprehensive policy on our motorhome does cover us both in the US, Canada, And Mexico - but they DO NOT cover our car/tow vehicle in Mexico so we must buy additional insurance for the car in Mexico. Be sure to check with your insurers to be sure what is and what is not covered on any vehicle you plan to use in Mexico. People like L&L can help understand all of this.
If you purchase insurance for Mexico they should also have a way you can download all the terms and conditions from their website that you can print out in both English and Spanish with all the specifics of the policy. Being able to present your legal status to law enforcement can be useful in the event of an accident.
We have heard people talk about something called "driver's license" insurance that is supposed to cover a driver for any vehicle they drive in Mexico. We have heard this is not a very good idea and should be investigated before thinking this will protect you in all the ways you might need. We have never used this type of insurance and do not plan to so have not investigated it. If you want to be sure you are covered by sure to research the various offerings to be sure you have all the coverage you think you have.
