This is the most direct route without going thru major cities. It skirts the cities but includes many toll roads. It is not scenic, just an A to B route. If you want cheaper or more scenic I can provide that but it will be longer.
Having made this trip a few times, I can X2 this. You either need to go west to the GSP or over the GW Bridge and onto the Cross Bronx Xway to get to New England. The Cross Bronx may be doable on a Sunday morning, but the rest of the time it's miserable. Also, the Jersey barriers directing traffic to the proper lanes on the GWB tend to take out steps on RVs.
If you do the GWB, propane is not allowed on the lower deck.
