Salem, Massachusetts

Finding a place to camp in Salem is kind of like a witch hunt -- lots of hunting, not much from witch to choose. ;)

2X on the Salisbury Beach State Reservation. It's about 10 minute drive when you Exit I95. It's a big State Park. Out Front is right on the Ocean and on the south side is the mouth of the Merrimack River. They have Water and electric sites and a 6 island dump station.
We camp there a couple times a year.

i have stayed at Winter Island Park campground in Salem. I had my 35 ft motorhome. You can always call them about driving in. I think you could do it. Nice campground and you can walk into Salem.

Salisbury State Reservation is about 30 miles north of Salem. Very nice place but I don't believe they have hook-ups. Just be prepared for a lot of company on the roads.

Also headed NE this summer. Been before. Yes, the traffic can be wild & the roads & intersections tend not to be as roomy as points westward so driving something large is a bit more challenging especially with the aggressive drivers around.

Salem is an old town, narrow roads, so best is to find a CG not too far away, say within 50 miles N of Salem & use that as a base for Salem & attractions within 50 miles N of Salem.

Was in Salem back in the fall. There is no place for any size towed rv. We were in a car and traffic barely moved. To top it off the owners of the old properties have managed to limit on street parking. I strongly suggest you park out and see if there are any tour options.

Haven't but I wouldn't. Just not enough space, unless there's a place on the outskirts you can unhook, leave the trailer and go into town in just your tow vehicle.
