Thanks for the review, rjxj! Looking at the sattelite view, I think I see your rig! Not really, but there are a couple close to the edge... and some others back against what I guess is a rock face. Those would be the old timers.

    LOL
There are actually 2 or 3 areas. As you come up the hill you can make a left and bear left with 2 trails to choose from. Those 2 both go on top of the mesa that looks out over Overton. If you keep going up the highway toward the power line area there are spots on both sides of the highway. I dont park near big power lines as it messes with my tinfoil hat. I hate that tingling feeling.

I didn't check it out but I think ass you go beyond the power line area there is another trail to the left as you get closer to the state park entrance. Maybe I will explore if I get over there.

Just out of town before you turn right to head up there is a wildlife area on the left with 8 or so decent sites but may be dusted out at times.

Wow, rjxj, you are an amazing photographer!

How did you like poverty flats? I have thought of checking it out one of these winters.

    NO, I'm a lucky photographer. :)

We loved it there. The surface is sort of rocky for the dogs to run on but it doesn't get muddy. I parked parallel to the edge of the mesa overlooking Overton and it was a beauty at night. After a few days the wind came in and and I felt like we were going to tip over. I poked my head out several times to see if the roof was flapping and be sure truck didn't blow away. I had probably parked in about the worst way you could. :)

A couple full timers I met were laughing at me and said that wind wasn't bad at all. I hope to be meeting up with one of them again this fall in Moab.

I dont remember the name of the entity that controls the land but it's not blm so you can stay as long as you like. That area was used for workers during the Lake Mead project. I met one guy from Idaho who stays the whole winter.
I love boondocking and all the great sites and people. We are indeed living the dream.
  • Some made me reminisce and some I put on the list of places to go.
    Thanks
