The MN State park campgrounds are all pretty nice with decent facilities (and you can make reservations online, which I like), personally I have stayed at Father Hennepin, and Split Rock Creek parks, plan to see more next season. All of them are likely going to be pretty darn quiet and deserted at this time of year since school is back in session around here (we stayed at Split Rock Creek 2 weeks ago and were only 1 of 2 campers in the whole park!).
We have found that we much prefer state parks over private parks every time, even though the private ones have more features like TV, WIFI, and Water/Sewer, they are usually packed in like sardeens, where the state parks have nice large sites, and most are more private with wooded areas between sites.
