Looking for Suggestions NE Ohio to ??

Greetiings! Have been scouring the web looking for the right suggestions. I know someone here can help!

My travelling crew is me (I'm the momma), my mom and my five kids. We've been camping for four years now, on our second trailer and expanding our horizons. A couple of my kids have some special needs and we've been building up our travel distance tolerance over the years. I'm trying to plan our week long camp trip this summer but honestly can't decide where and feel like I'm running out of time? Our travel tolerance this summer we figure is anywhere from six to eight hours.

We're leaving from the NE ohio area and going the week before July 4th a Sunday to Sunday trip. I've thought of places like Gettysburg, Wisconsin Dells, Smokies (DollyWood)but I'm not sure. I'm willing to go some place for a few days then move on to a final destination.
Any suggestions?
  • I agree that Kentucky Horse Park will have something for everyone. Pool, Basketball, the actual horse park, tour of Toyota Assembly Plant, Tour of the horse farms, Old Friends for exhausted race horses, mall for shopping, Un. of Kentucky, Quacker Village, Bourbon Trails, and the list can go on for another 8 paragraphs.
  • In that case, check out Kentucky Horse Park. The campground (W,E and dump station)is on site and has all kinds of recreation facilities, including basketball hoops and a pool. About 300 miles from Cleveland on I-71 and I-75.
Remember: Kentucky is the home of beautiful horses and fast women. I may have that backwards. :)
  • Thanks for the suggestions so far! By summertime kids will range from 9 months to 12yo. Thier not picky about spots as long as the campground has a pool and a basketball hoop. We've done everything from the nature sights to the man-made sites (e.g., museums, science centers, etc.). As with any childhood experience we're out to make memories! Camping has been a great adventure for our family and momma is ready for a little longer trip!
  • You might try Hocking Hills Ohio State Park, lots to do and they have a swimmimg pool. Smokies are good but very popular and kind of expensive, but have everything for families, including an Aquarium.
  • It would help to know the kids' ages, interests and tolerance for walking.
  • We did the New York area last year and had a good time. It consisted of Letchworth SP, Watkins Glenn and Rhinebeck.
