My pet peeve is the exit signs that tell you what is where, arrows on the exit ramp indicating which way to turn, then nothing. If the service is within viewing distance, you are OK, but if there is a new junction, good luck knowing which way to turn.

I use the turnpike when appropriate but I have an EZ Pass that at least gives me some sort of discount. It's good on all these other toll roads such as 43 and the one from New Stanton to route 30. I also use it on WV Turnpike.

The EZ pass at least brings the cost down somewhat is easy to use and is convenient to use. Many of the toll roads such as 43 require exact change and they are not manned at all. You don't pay and you will be getting a bill in the mail for the toll plus fines and penalties court cost etc.

The only problem is that I80 is so HEAVY with truck traffic it makes it a tough ride.. For me, I would have to drive 2 hours NORTH to get to I80 then go west.. pavement to pavement I think the conditions are better on the PA Pike, sure you pay ( A LOT ) but ........

If you are traveling through the mountains of southern PA towing a trailer the turnpike is your best alternative. Some of the main highways, such as US30 east of Breezewood, are very crooked and steep. Large trucks are banned. I-80 is hilly but not to any great degree. It doesn't slow the tractor trailers.

I do find another road, it's just a shame that folks are taxed to death and can't afford to use what they paid for.

Yea.....excuse me for assuming the OP stayed on the Ohio pike, which changes from I80 to I76 west of Youngstown, straight into Pa and the PA pike.

Even more so once one gets East of New Stanton and hits the alleghenies. Then you arrive at the toll booth near your destination and reality sets in, when you drain the bank account paying the toll lol.

I guess that all changed.....a year or two ago they stated tolls would rise 9% every year through 2026 lol. I assume some of the commissioners had a few more grandkids they need to support over the next 30 years. Talk about a hotbed of corruption and nepotism. Bid rigging? Nahhhhhh lol.

Lets do the math for poops and giggles. Currently $55 for a car from Ohio to the Delaware river bridge, cash, 359 miles @ $0.15 per mile.

6% per year for 30 years = $315.89 lol. That will be $0.88 per mile...what a bargain.
