It does happen.
However, I agree with you, and doubt China will see any obligation to do anything, based on past performance.
Still I`m an optimist, even about people and believe that at the very least we will do better the next time round. - MDKMDKExplorer

I guess the commercial and public campground businesses are going to start taking a hit over the end of cross border travel for pleasure.
Wonder how long this global fiasco will last?
China should have to pay reparations for starting it all, if it's found they were somehow negligently involved in it's cause and their initial reaction to it's effects.
I know everyone loves to point fingers but it will not solve this or the next global outbreak. Let`s learn from what we are doing now and the apply it to the next one because if anyone believes this will not happen again...............no country is going to pay any reparations regardless of fault.
Maybe, maybe not, on all counts.

I can guarantee that we'll learn little about this one based on the over reaction to many of the issues it's raised, because so many governments are falling all over themselves to "respond quickly to the crisis". NO world leader wants to have their own "Katrina".
IIRC, we cruised through the last handful of WHO pandemic declarations with little damage finacially or otherwise. The damage in those ones was limited mainly to loss of life. Markets didn't freefall like they are during this one, and it's a strong indicator that doing too much can often be worse than not doing enough.

- dedmistonModeratorThe situation is constantly changing. Looks like it's closed to everything but trucking now.
- shum02ExplorerAs of this morning it is closed to all but "trade" related travel and returning home travel. If you're an American returning home no problem and if a Canadian returning home, no problem.
We will all get through this.
Canada Border Services - C-172-AV8RExplorerToo much false information. The Canadian border is closed to all foreigners except Canadians or permanent residents of Canada and Americans. The recommendation is to avoid non essential travel at this time. You should self isolate yourself if you have been in contact someone who has the virus to avoid spreading it to others. This would not be a good time to visit as most restaurants and bars will be closed. Gatherings of more then 50 people is also banned. There is no sports being played and the ferries have reduced sailings. Hospitals have cancelled all elective surgeries in case there is a surge of those with COVID 19. The recommendation is to return to your home and to practise social distancing.......If you are young and healthy you more then likely will recover from this virus. Those that are older with health issues could have a far worse experience......Be safe....Be kind....and Good luck...Mike

They are discouraging non essential travel. I don't think a rv qualifies. 14 day quarantine as stated. The govt said the reason they kept the Americans on their list is many people from both countries cross back and forth for work. For example, truck drivers hauling freight etc. or business. I think I would call ahead if trying it. Crossing borders in this kind of situation could be not a fun experience.
An RV qualifies, has nothing to do with the vehicle type, it's the people inside that are being classified. Unless it's commercial. I asked because I live on the border, and have some other cross border trips planned, and this mess might still be on going next week or next month. Anyone deemed to have traveled outside Canada, whether they have symptoms or not, for non-essential reasons, is considered a risk for COVID-19 exposure. You can "discuss" it with CBSA, if you want, but they're enforcing it with no exceptions for those travelers/trips they decided were non-essential.
The irony or paradox in this case is they've already backed off on barring US citizens, air crews, whatever. They weren't specific about whether the US citizen needs to be traveling here for business or pleasure, afaik. It's a complete cluster you know what, they way it's being handled on our side. Slow to make decisions, and not much foresight being used, overall.
On the news the PM was aked why he wasn't tested, and why he wasn't a risk to the people at a conference he was at, after it was discovered Sophie was positive for it and he was exposed to it. He said because he was feeling great and had no symptoms the docs told him he wasn't contagious. Uh huh. - winnimanExplorer IIThey are discouraging non essential travel.
