Just as dkilley stated......at first confusing but once we saw the barrier opening...that is where we entered and someone came out and flagged us where to park. took about 1/2 hour for everything. There were 2 rv's that somehow entered into the security checkpoint heading south???...don't know how they did that?!
Carried on to 228 km for FMM's.......painless and quick!
Border at Lukeville........basic questions......back in the States. We were also able to use our Nexus cards for the re-entry.......although he still wanted to see our passports
For the first time going this way, I thought it was pretty straight forward.......considering coming back next year this way instead of Nogales.
Also, the road from Santa Ana was excellent.....especially after travelling the sections from Hermosiilo

As for the fruit stop; Yesterday we had no oranges, tangerines, pears or apples, all they asked about. He was about to come in when he saw the dogs and asked again. When I told him the dogs were OK, that they only bit on Saturdays, he smiled and said OK, You can go. OOPS! Yesterday was Saturday! :S :B

He's right, we exited there last Wednesday. The sticker lady has quite decent English.
At the fruit stops, we always volunteer exactly what we have-lettuce, tomatoes, garlic, bananas, nothing more. (In Spanish) At both sites, they have looked at our two large dogs through the windshield, decided who had to enter, and when I opened the door with both dogs constrained, they smiled, asked me to repeat what we had, and thanked us. Nothing about eggs.

You do turn in your paperwork for your decal's and get your refund at the new facility at the 93KM post. There is a left turn lane just past the facility where you can enter - like you're going INTO Mexico. Stay in the main traffic area once you've left the highway - the parking area to the right is too small for a motor home. After having your decal scraped, you're going to have to make a U-turn and go against the traffic flow until re-entering the highway. Then turn in tourist permit at the 26 KLM marker. Park on the right side in dirt or they will make you move. No one said it was going to be easy...LOL. Safe travels.

On another note, the fruit check at the 137klm marker SOUTH of Mazatlan was asking for our eggs and all fruit. Watch for this.

There should be some folks who are heading north that can fill Us in ! I do know that you can always find someone at the actual border who will be happy to accept the documents from You.
What they actually do with the paperwork is ?? ?

We seem to always find some changes each Year. Last a year We turned the TIP in at Altar or whatever that New place is called, then stopped at Km 21 to have the Passports Stamped and turn in the Immigration documents.

The funny thing was that the Old booth that used to be at Km 21had been moved to the New Location near altar!

We had to do the U turn trick ,which was not a big deal at Altar!

Please post your experience. We are also going out Lukeville later in the month and would appreciate knowing the return procedure. Thanks.

Last year we returned our tourist papers at the border where we got them in the first place

You may have to turn them back at the border in the building to the left of the flagpole. Tough to park. I am not sure there is anyone at km 26 still.
