Lynchburg TN to I-40 East

We plan to visit the Jack Daniel's distillery in Lynchburg. Would appreciate suggestions on best route from Lynchburg to I-40 going east. Also need info on RV parks in the Lynchburg area. My directory shows only one option -- Tims Ford State Rustic Park. (Tried to call the Jack Daniel's visitor center, but phone always busy.) We are driving 30' Class A with tow car.

  • If you are in Lynchburg at lunch time be sure to eat at Miss Mary's boarding house. Reservations are required, and they are usually very busy. You will not be disappointed. The food is home cooking delicious.
  • I would stay at Old Stone Fort State Park, 12 miles form Lynchburg. Water and Electric sites or there is a KOA in Manchester as well.

Don't forget to visit George Dickle in Tullahoma as well.
  • Any other options besides Wilderness RV in Lynchburg? The reviews are consistently poor. Heading that way in a couple of months.

Take Hwy 55 thru Tullahoma and follow the 4 lane always to I 40. Great road It is about 80 miles to I 40 but you miss any large cities. And speed up to 70 on the 4 lane. The 4 lane starts out as TN 55 which changes to 70S and it changes to Hwy 111. Sounds like a nightmare but all you do is follow the 4 lane :)

There is also George Dickle in Tullahoma.

Thanks for the info....I will be taking the same route next month and was wondering the same thing as Sigbowman. I will be traveling up the Natchez Trace and getting off on 64/15 West of Lawrenceburg....then over to Fayetteville. Part of that road appears to be a "scenic route"...anything I should be concerned with pulling a fifth wheel?
  • But if you go I24 you will be adding miles to your drive.
  • If you take 55 east thru Tullahoma to manchester you can hi8t I24 and it's about 27 miles of good road.
