mammoth caves KY

whats the best camp ground at mammoth caves national park to stay at for 3 nights...and is that enough time to see everything..what about the bike paths
  • We stayed at Dog Creek a COE CG. RV Park Rev Big sites. There is a back entrance to Mammoth Caves that you can drive to from Dog Creek that cuts the travel time. You get to ride on a one vehicle free ferry in the park.

I don't know what was wrong with the first person who posted that review on RVPR but it doesn't describe the CG we stayed at. The other reviews are positive tho.

Three days should be plenty. I don't know about bike trails but I suspect you can find some in the park.

BTW you will be somewhat isolated when you are at that CG, not that the distance is great but that the roads are narrow, winding and you'll get behind an Amish horse cart. So I'd stock up before getting there.
  • We stayed at The Narrows CoE 3weeks ago & recommend it. It's a little out of the way but nice park.
  • Cave Country RV park. Right by 65, yet on the road the park is on. 3 days would be plenty. Everything worth seeing is underground and you will need tickets for. Get online and reserve them early..... The Jellystone isn't bad either.

We also recommend Dog Creek - nice variety of campsites in a beautiful setting. We did the lantern tour of the caves - wonderful! I would make reservations in advance for both campsites and cave tours.
  • OK...DOG CREEK it is just reserved 3 nights checked out web site looks good...and quite we like quit and hiking trails thanks for the help...life's good when your camping
