Meandering up Hiway 1 above San Francisco

Question

We will be traveling from the Modesto area to Highway 1 via highway 12 above San Francisco. I know 1 going north right out of SF is the pits. Where would be a decent place to pick up 1 at?

I will be driving a 24ft Sprinter pulling a Tracker. I am very experienced at driving MH's (had a 38' pusher pulling a Colorado)so I ain't afraid just smart..... LoL

I have Streets and Trips and I'm trying to find a good spot to pick up 1 avoiding the Bay Area Traffic...

Are you going up from SF or are you coming from Modesto to HI 1?

If from Modesto, I would get on 99 to 5 to 12 and west to 80. Then jump down to 37, to Lakeville Hiway to Petaluma and get on 101 N to 12 to Bodega Bay and Hiway 1 OR continue on 12 from Lodi through Santa Rosa.  That route is a little more twisty and congested, but pretty.  The reason I suggest 37, is it is straighter and you don't start the twisty turny till you get through Santa Rosa on 101/12.

I see the route your talking about...I'm thinking we will take 12 through Santa Rosa to Bodega Bay.... The advantage if a smaller MH twisty's are not as bad as they used to be...
